6 to 16 June: 9th Poetry & Literature Festival with celebrities from film and theater
With some film stars, who enthused their audience already during the past years, there will be a reunion whilst new actors and actresses known from television will appear on stage – the 9th Bad Homburg Poetry & Literature Festival will again be a great mix of renowned names and exciting events. And great literature. It will take center stage during the Festival, which has secured its reputation already beyond Bad Homburg, from 6 to 16 June. “The Poetry & Literature Festival serves today as the cultural calling card for our city throughout the entire region. We hear great texts, read in a way you can only experience here”, Mayor Alexander W. Hetjes is pleased to note. He points out that the presentation of the Hölderlin Literature Award will be integrated into the Festival and that with the Schlosskirche church an impressive new setting has been found for the official ceremony.
“Classics of world literature, read by famous actresses and actors, are the outstanding feature of our Festival; the diversity of the venues is the other. The readings do not only take place in the Kurtheater but also at other special venues such as for the first time in the Wintergarten of the Kulturbahnhof station”, Ralf Wolter, Director of the Tourist Board, explains. Together with Hetjes, he agrees that the production of such an ambitious festival is owed in particular to the commitment and large enthusiasm of the partners and sponsors. These are Taunus Sparkasse as main sponsor, Taunus-Zeitung, hr2 Kultur, Spielbank Bad Homburg, Steigenberger Hotel Bad Homburg and Supp’s bookshop.
“We have promoted the Poetry & Literature Festival out of deep conviction from its inception onwards. Since that time the team around Bernd Hoffmann and Hermjo Klein has provided the Festival with its charisma and offers visitors very special experiences”, says Oliver Klink, CEO of Taunus Sparkasse.
The artistic direction lies again with Bernd Hoffmann (workforce.music+media consulting), the initiator of the Bad Homburg Poetry & Literature Festival. “I love the fanciful staging of literature with the support of other forms of art but do not fully waive events with mere literature”, he outlines his concept. Like in previous years, the readings will be accompanied by matching music. At the end of the events, the actors are pleased to be available for a get together and the signing of autographs.
The overall responsibility for the Festival lies with A.C.T. Artist Agency GmbH in co-operation with the City of Bad Homburg and Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH. For A.C.T. Managing Director and promotion professional Hermjo Klein, for whom event planning with big names is part of his routine business, the Poetry Festival is a highlight in his full schedule of events, also thanks to the very good co-operation with Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH and the City of Bad Homburg.
Advance ticket sales for the 8th Poetry & Literature Festival plus its two special events have just started – and it’s worthwhile to secure tickets in due time. Because the A-list of the German film and theater community can be experienced again in Bad Homburg:
