Her powerful piano playing, her unmistakable voice, her intimate and romantic sound and her elegance have secured her a place in the highest echelons of popularity not only in jazz but also in pop culture.
Diana Krall was born in Nanaimo, a small town in British Columbia, Canada. She began playing the piano at the age of four and was already performing in a local restaurant at the age of 15. She won a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music and released her first album “Stepping Out” in 1993. Since then, she has masterfully interpreted and composed pieces ranging from international jazz standards to pop.
Diana Krall’s successes include five Grammy Awards, eight Juno Awards, nine gold albums, three platinum albums and seven multi-platinum albums. She is also the only jazz singer to have reached top positions in the Billboard Jazz Album Charts with a total of eight albums. Her admirers include prominent stars such as the renowned jazz connoisseur Clint Eastwood, Elton John and the actress and singer Barbra Streisand.
